Aurora Sheboygan Hospital Redevelopment Project Phases: Expected Timeline
2020-2021 - Engagement with Sheboygan neighbors
In compliance with the redevelopment agreement with the City of Sheboygan, we employed a consulting firm to engage with the neighborhoods surrounding the campus. Engagement includes City and neighborhood stakeholder meetings.
January 2022 - New campus complete
In January of 2022, we expect that the new medical center campus will be substantially complete. We’re committed to operating our existing Sheboygan medical center until the new one is completed.
Spring 2022 - First patients seen at new medical center
We expect the first patients will be seen at the new medical center in 2022. At that time, we anticipate shifting all services from the existing Sheboygan campus to the new medical center.
2022 to 2025 - Site preparation
Within 36 months after issuance of an occupancy permit for the new medical center, we’ll work with the City of Sheboygan to remove all material from the buildings and make improvements on the Sheboygan campus property.
Redevelopment begins
Once the site has been restored to an environment suitable for future development, a third-party developer can begin redevelopment of the site in a manner consistent with the surrounding neighborhood.

What are Advocate Aurora’s responsibilities for redevelopment of the Sheboygan medical center site?
The City of Sheboygan and Advocate Aurora have entered into a redevelopment agreement that requires us to work with the City toward a future sale and third-party redevelopment of the existing campus.

Our team will engage with the Memorial neighborhood and border neighborhoods of North Lake, Raider, End Park, Maple Heights, Historic Grant, and Vollrath/North Point, in compliance with the redevelopment agreement. This will include holding city and neighborhood stakeholder meetings prior to the opening of the new facility.

Advocate Aurora will engage a broker to list the existing campus to transition to a third-party developer under the terms outlined in the redevelopment agreement and in a manner that benefits the entire community.
